An Open Letter To the Undecided

What to do when you don’t know what to do in your life?

Maybe you just graduated in senior high school, took a STEM strand but still doubtful if you’re going to pursue engineering course in college. Maybe you’re a licensed teacher but you realize that you don’t want to practice teaching as a profession. Or perhaps you’re a typical employee for years but still undecided to the career path you are heading of. There are lot of maybes and uncertainties most of us are encountering right now and these are definitely okay.

I know it’s sometimes frustrating thinking of how well you plan your life but you don’t know where and how to start to make it. You are still clueless and sometimes you feel hopeless. Perhaps as of the moment, you are unsure of what you really love and what will really satisfy you. Just remember, there is nothing wrong being undecided in life. It is not wrong if you are still trying to figure out your skill set and passion. Keep on searching for what will make your heart flutter and will set your soul on fire.

Don’t be afraid of change. Change is inevitable. You may like doing a certain thing today and the next day, you’re not. If change will bring you to better place until you become certain of what to pursue, why don’t you embrace it? Keep on exploring new things. Don’t limit your growth. Strive to change not only for the better but for the best version of yourself.

Don’t feel pressured by the environment in doing things you love. Never compare yourself with others because every individual is unique. We have different capabilities and we all have our own timeline. If you fail and get rejected, try again. If you fail again, keep on trying because failures and rejections don’t mean you will not succeed. And being undecided doesn’t mean you’ll stay on the ground forever. All good things take time. Before you reach the top of the mountain, you have to start from the ground. As you take one step each day, you will discover more and more about yourself. As long as you don’t give up on life, no matter how long your journey is, you will soon get through your final destination – your genuine happiness.

At the end of the day, it is you and nothing else, who will determine what you can do and what you can’t. Use your skills and passion as strength and motivation in finding what you truly love.

Above all, always seek guidance from God Almighty. He will enlighten your mind to make good decisions in life and He will surely lead your path. If He becomes your top priority while chasing your dreams and happiness, He will not forsake you. Success and good fate in life are never an accident. These are not acquired only because a person has great qualities but because He has God in his heart. Trust yourself and trust God in the process. Let Him direct your way and you will surely get to the place you are supposed to be.
