Open Letter To My Future Daughter

Dear Daughter,

One day, you will read this and I hope that you will be amazed how I really care so much for you that I write this down for you although you haven’t existed in this world. As I write this, I am already 27 and have seen heartaches from women. I hope and pray that you will be a victor and not a loser because Christ has overcome the world.

This World

This world has a lot of views regarding the meaning of love, passion, desire, beauty, and relationship. My prayer to you now is that, you will not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect for you.

This generation is obsessed on the things which they think is necessary for them, but my daughter, be reminded that only Christ is what you need; everything else is secondary. My prayer to you is that you will be captivated by the standard of the Word and not this world’s standards. When compromise become normal to them, I plead you to go back to what the Scripture says and let its truths blindfold you to the norm of the society that overpowers you. Don’t let them dictate you on your decision making.

Your Worth

I pray that you understand your worth. You are precious to my eyes. Likewise, you are the apple of the eye of the One who holds the Universe on His hand. How amazing is that? But it is true. Hence, if the time comes when no one appreciate your beauty, because of how you dress modestly, remember that you are just presenting your body as living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God because this is your worship (Romans 12:1) and not presenting it as an instrument of wickedness (Romans 6:13). When the time comes that everyone will be desensitized on nakedness, I hope that the truth that you hold on to remains and shines upon them. Your body is for Him, not for men, so do not show a lot of your body parts for them.

In Terms of Love

I hope that you will patiently wait for someone who is more interested about Christ than life. Yes, there is still a man out there who is more passionate to go to the depths of the Bible to discover its wonderful hidden truth than go to the ocean’s depth. Yes, there is still a man out there who is still more eager to conquer difficult questions from the Scripture than to conquer mountains. This world will say to you that he will be the most boring partner you will have. I say, don’t believe it. The man who grew and molded my the Word will be the one who will bring you to the greatest Kingdom, heaven, that most of women never visited. He will be the one who will help you see joyous things when suffering comes, and the one who will urge you to believe more because your Dad in heaven is big and rich. Do not settle for less.

It is not enough that he is a Christian. He should be the man after God’s own heart, pleasing Jesus than anybody else. Finally, do what Paul said to the Corinthian church on love’s standard:  “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things” (1 Cor. 13:4-7). When finding a man, he must be patient and kind and does not envy or boast. He does not insist on his own way but he commits his plans to the Lord. He does not get cross on your immaturity and does not rejoice at wrong doings.

Share What You Have

I pray that you are not afraid to share your voice to others – that you will not be ashamed about the One who saved you from disgrace. Every day, let the joy of the Lord be your strength, even in times of sorrow.  You will experience pains, disappointments and regrets but learn from it. Share to the world how the Word molded you to become the woman who can rejoice over the suffering on this earth. God will prune you (and it may be painful), but the end of that pruning season is a new beginning of hope, passion, faith, desire, plan and love. Do not be afraid to conquer all the “giants” because you have the Sword—a double edged one. Be strong and courageous with a tender heart. I love you.

Your loving and caring Dad
