A man named Jesus

When I try to run away, I see You running beside me.

When I try to look back, I see You standing beside me.

When I try to look at my future, You go ahead of me.

You climbed mountains, dived through the deepest depths,

left the 99 to search for me,

and you were willing to lay your own life in exchange for my own.

You didn’t come into the world to condemn me, but to destroy what was killing me.

You took away from me every hurt, brokenness, pain, fear, and doubt.

You took away from me every rejection, sickness, curse, sin and death

over and over again –

and You exchanged it with healing, wholeness, acceptance, peace, faith, hope, love, and eternal life.

Everytime I get lost, I will always remember that day.

A day when darkness covered the whole land,

when the sun and the stars mourned for the one who is named Jesus.

Jesus, who is King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Jesus, a Sovereign Ruler who left his majestic Kingdom to show his love for all mankind,

a love that was so gruesomely displayed on a rugged cross, that became my light and salvation.
