Have that Courage

You’ve been doing well on your own in your entire life. You never expected that the day will come when you would long to be with someone, and you’ll be excited with all his messages and sweet gestures.

You’ve been good friends ever since. You both shared your life stories, struggles and success. Then one day, you just realized there could be something more than being friends but you don’t want to assume. All the actions became confising, not the same as the usual. You are so afraid to ask so you just go with the flow.

Still, you enjoy his company and you always wanted to be there for him. You are one call away. You feel that he needs you, hoping he feels the same about you.

You laughed. You prayed. You cried. You hoped for that time that he will declare his real intention to you. After years of waiting and convincing yourself that he may not be ready yet, eventually, you get tired. You feel the need to surrender and let go, but you don’t want to lose the friendship.

It’s always hard to let go of someone you’ve been holding for so long, but it’s harder when you  don’t free yourself from the thought that someday, things will work out.

You’ve tried to move forward a couple of times, but you always end up with his company.

You’ve protected yourself from being hurt, but you always say yes to his requests.

You know what you deserve and what you want. You know what you delight for, and what you’ve been praying so long.

Have the courage to walk away from something you don’t deserve. Have that courage to let go of something that is not giving you peace of mind and clarity.
