Let us be the “I’ll be” in the world full of “I want”

I want a man/woman who is …

I want a man/woman who can …

I want a man/woman who will …

And some say

Find a man/woman who is …

Find a man/woman who can …

Find a man/woman who will …

And the list goes on.

It’s easy to say what we want from a person or keep looking for someone that has qualities we want. The truth is everyone falls short of someone else’s expectation. We will never meet each other’s expectation. So what will you do when your expected knight in shinning armour turns out to be a passive ungentleman guy who knows no limit or how about your expected demure princess turns out to be an annoying girl who keeps record of wrongs? Most of the time we give up pursuing the person. Sometimes we tend to look for another person to fill the emptiness of our hearts hoping that he or she is the one and then you’ll be suprised that you end up jumping from one relationship to another.

Feeling incomplete?

Whether we like it or not, if our hearts desire to want more rather than to give more it could be a sign of incompleteness. It’s exhausting to look for someone who’ll complete us because no one will ever complete us. Only God can complete us. Or maybe you’re looking for someone who is complete but the problem is you don’t feel complete and if that’s the case, you’ll end up getting more from that person rather than giving all.

What does it mean to be complete?

To be complete means you have a sense of contentment that your focus will shift from getting more to giving all. As I mentioned only God can complete us and that is through His one and only Son, Jesus Christ. Having a personal relationship with Him is the best relationship you’ll ever have and everything else will follow. If you know someone who knows Jesus ask them if they feel complete. You’ll be surprised because we don’t just feel complete but the love He gave is so overwhelming and overflowing that it must be shared to others. It’s not meant to be felt alone; it’s meant to be shared to all. It’s not about religion, it’s about relationship.

Imagine all of us are full of love where we only depend our security, peace, trust, faith, and identity in Jesus because we know that He won’t fail us. A world full of complete people and the goal is to give and give. Imagine you can easily forgive someone because you have been forgiven by Him. Imagine you can love unconditionally because He loves you unconditionally. Does it mean life will be easy? No. But the grace of God is enough to sustain us. Does it mean we don’t need to expect love from others? No. But Christ’s love and validation is enough for us to be satisfied in life. In Him, we no longer depend on someone else’s love and validation to complete us. Because of Christ, we can be the “I’ll be” in the world full of “I want”.

Because of Him we can say that ..

I’ll be a man/woman who is …

I’ll be a man/woman who can …

I’ll be a man/woman who will …

And the list goes on.
