Please stop treating your leaders and pastors as someone perfect.
“Pastor ka pa naman.”
I heard this many times but never really knew it was heart-breaking until I, myself, received this comment from someone I thought who was my friend.
Whether out of anger or frustration, it doesn’t change the fact that I felt judged and maligned.
No pastor or leader should ever feel they don’t have room for mistakes in this fallen world just because they have the title of a pastor. It’s just unfair to assume that your leaders should never ever make a mistake.
We look up to our pastors, yes, but we have to keep in mind that they are exactly like you who makes mistakes every now and then.
The next time you look at your leader or pastor, don’t ever think that they cannot sin anymore or make mistakes because it is impossible since we are still here in this fallen world.
Even the Bible says that everyone sins and have fallen short of the glory of God. So don’t be arrogant and self-righteous because we all have the same standing in the eyes of God.
God says we should be holy. And we all know that being holy doesn’t mean we are free from sin anymore but it ultimately means that there should be no hidden sins in the heart.
Let’s leave it at that.
Nobody’s perfect, not one. But we do strive for Christlikeness.
Whenever you feel like saying those words again to your pastors and leaders, please stop.
