When I attended a wedding last January God was planting something in my heart during that event. He was teaching me to believe about His great purpose in my life and about the future ahead. That If I will settle for less and waste this season of singleness, destruction, regret, and disappointment are there ready to welcome me.
We know how many relationships ended in separation. We see it with our own eyes how homes are broken today. Some of the friends we know are living with separate parents. We know how many fall into temptation and can’t stand up once more. I heard a lot of stories this year who took their life because of broken hearts, because of their partner. And it pushed me to write this with a hope in my heart that one day, all of us will learn to wait for God’s appointed one. If we are excited in our love life so is God. He is eager to see His children united for His glory.
No Need to Rush
There is no need to rush as young as you are. God has a lot of great things in store for you that only in your single season you may have and experience. This season is an opportunity to be fully satisfied with the love of Jesus and know your status in Him. Rushing things can lead us to settle for less and not for the great and wonderful things that we might experience in our season now. When we rush the season that we don’t need to rush, we will lack preparation for the next level ahead.
We can’t focus on the most important things because we feel that something else should be rushed and should be prioritized. What are your priorities in life? Is the relationship you are involved in bringing out the best in you? Or does it make you sin? It’s not because I am not in relationship right now that will discourage anyone to be in a relationship. No I won’t. I want all of you to enjoy Jesus with someone else. What I want to say is this: if you know that your life is complete because of Christ then go. Don’t be too worried about your finances because God will provide and will supply all your needs according to His will.
Complete Because of Christ
If you are not yet complete in Christ then it is not a good time for you to pursue someone or say yes to a relationship. It may sound legalistic but it is true. Solid truths like this one sometimes sound like a command and it’s difficult for us to agree yet because of the stories I heard from close friends and from those matured and now married ones– or it might be your story or other–I believe you will benefit, if you follow and accept that. No incomplete person with incomplete partner can complete each other. No one is complete unless Christ is with Him. Only He and He alone can complete us. Relationships are meant to enjoy Him forever. Relationships can never give us a long and lasting satisfaction in life because in the end, we will get hungry and thirst for more.
Remember the story of the Samaritan woman with five husbands that Jesus encountered at the well? He said to the woman, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life (John 4:13-14)”. We cannot find our fulfillment and satisfaction in someone or something else but on Jesus Himself.
Your Waiting and Preparation Are Not in Vain
The moment that we realize how faithful and patient the Lord is to us, the more we will wait patiently and the more we will trust the process in this season. If you are in God’s side you don’t need to be worried about certain things in life—even the one whom you will marry. If God called you in a certain place or certain job, do the best that you can do. You don’t need to be insecure with someone because they are successful in other things or their status is now in relationship.
Remember that God has in store something for you in the future. Have faith. Do your work. Do bigger things. Stand up in your mat and place your hands to better things that can make an impact in your best future. For he knows the plans He has for you; plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).
There is a time for everything . . . a time to search . . . a time to love . . . a time to be silent and a time to speak (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8). So as we wait and prepare ourselves for the future ahead, let us soak ourselves to His words and fix our eyes on Him who will bring the best for us; for our work is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58) and let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due time we will reap a harvest, if we do not give up (Galatians 6:9).
