Dear “Delayed” Person

Dear “Delayed” Person,

We sometimes validate ourselves through the timeline of this world: graduate by 20, find a job after graduation, full independence by 25, get married before 30 that whenever we are “out of track”, “stuck”, “missed” or “failed” it’s as if “it’s over”.

So we settle with the “dusts and ashes”, chase dreams of “second bests” and live a life of “it’s okay”.

Sure, you may be here as a result of what you did or did not do but God is still in control. And He can not be mistaken. He can not be charged wrong for allowing you to enter whatever season you are in today.

I know you feel like missing out and useless because of the Facebook posts you’ve seen from friends and “impressive” people. But God doesn’t pick favorites. He couldn’t have simply forgotten you Because He’s busy fixing and promoting others. I assure you, He knows you and His plans for you.

God is not the person who makes a list of things to do for people and executes them one by one in a particular order. He is always actively doing something in your life, in my life and in all lives.

Let me remind you of these truths today:

  1. God’s timetable is different from ours.
  2. Our shortcomings does not disqualify us from the abundant life and inheritance that Jesus bought for us on the Cross.
  3. There’s always hope and a future because of Him.
  4. He will fulfill His plans for you in His perfect time.

And so maybe God calling us to wait a little more, persevere a little more, grow a little more just before He elevates us to a “higher rock” whatever that may mean to you personally.

It’s okay my dear friend. We will one day see clearer and all the pain and questions will be hushed. For now, we take it one day at time. Waking up everyday to new mercies, new grace and new strength.

Today, validate yourself, “I am not delayed. God know His plans for me and He will not delay.”

And if you need a friend, let me know. Let’s be friends in this season of waiting and persevering.

For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.
