I’m really not into social media for the past few days/weeks because of my busy schedule..but I had the chance to just scan my fb news feed today..and surprisingly, almost all the posts I’ve encountered would be about being sad and all..and worst is being “depressed” due to life circumstances..sooooo..i had this urge to come up with some inputs about it..

Depression is no joke..it is real and it could be affecting almost all the people you encounter everyday..they might hide it by being friendly, smiling even if things inside them is breaking or sometimes they tend to be alone and busy with their own life. These people are trying their best not to be identified as being depressed because of the fear that they will be judge as “paawa effect lang yan” or someone who seeks everybody’s attention or “kakampi.” It is simply because they don’t know where else to go, what else to do or whom to trust..their hearts and minds are full of FEAR…

Moreover, according to World Health Organization, depression is the leading cause of illness and disease globally with increasing suicidal tendencies and rates among men and women. In addition to that, here in our country alone, there were 3.3million Filipinos who suffers from depression which includes suicide rates from 1995 to 2015 and is still counting, according to National Center for Mental Health.

While you are busy reading this article, try mo rin makinig sa episode namin:

The above mentioned number of people being depressed, for me is quite alarming and should not be an object for a joke or gossip in workplace, schools/universities or even on the streets..because it has a huge effect in someone’s life.

For that reason, I would highly suggest, that if you know someone who suffers from this illness, advise him or her to seek a professional consult from an expert such as a Psychologist, again this should be done privately not publicly. Next, is that its not bad to ask someone how are they doing..how’s life, their work, family or anything this is to check on them and make them feel worthy and that they count as an individual. It won’t make you a little of a person if you tend to care for someone. And most importantly, pray for him or her..be accountable and make them feel loved just like what Jesus did for us. Even great prophets like David, he became depressed when the time came that King Saul was plotting to kill him (Psalm 42:11). Jacob, who run for his life because his brother is also trying to kill him (Genesis 27-32).Job who suffered to lose everything in just a snap (Job 1) and yet chose to trust God. They are only few of the great men of God in the bible who also experienced depression but at the end of the day, God used people and even presented Himself to remind them His love and that He will restore them whatever happens..

For it is says in Isaiah 41:10…

“…fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Nobody is perfect, so who are we to judge..its always nice to be nice even if someone is not mabait at all..(the conyo inside me..haha)
