Life Realizations of a Struggling Millennial

I want to share some of the things I learned during this year. I must say that I’ve matured a lot and I’m proud of the person I have become. It’s not an easy process, I’ve been through a lot and I felt like I don’t know what my purpose is anymore. But these realizations helped me to become the person I am right now. I hope to inspire you in my own little way after reading this.

Don’t be afraid to chase your dreams

We all have dreams but what makes it different from each other is what we do to reach it. Yes, there will be times especially on our 20’s where we get afraid to reach our dreams because we don’t want to fail or we already have an option that is more convenient for us than pursuing it. But one thing I realized is that we do not get unlimited chances to have the things we want. So when the opportunity of reaching our dreams come, do something about it. Take the risk and don’t be afraid to fail.

Success has its perfect timing

Patience is the key. There will be times where you feel like you’re a failure but bad times doesn’t lasts forever.  Don’t give up and try harder because like what other people say, “success does not come overnight”. When the right time comes, the success you prayed for will happen and all your struggles will be worth it.

Learn to let go and let God lead the way

One of the hardest thing to do in this life is letting go of someone you love. This year, I met a lot of people in my life but I realized that not everyone deserves to stay forever. It took me a lot of courage and strength to finally let go but it’s all worth it. Letting go made my world bigger and my dreams clearer. I want to be a better person not for others but for myself. It also helped me to become closer to God and trust him.

Start saving up

You may think that saving up is not necessary on your early 20’s because that is the time to enjoy life and try new adventures. Yes, I used to think about that also but I recently changed my perspective on that. With the help of some of my colleagues and friends, I realized that it’s okay to buy the things you like and go to places you want you visit but you have to save up first. Do not live beyond your means and set aside your savings first before prioritizing other things.

Always love yourself first

I used to believe that you have to give your 100% in loving others. But as time goes by, I learned that it is more important to love yourself first. How can other people love you if you cannot love yourself? The most important thing you need to learn is to know your worth. You are an amazing creation of God and you don’t deserve to compromise yourself for someone who constantly hurts you. Don’t let toxic people make you feel worthless, because you’re never like that. Love yourself so when the right person come into your life, he will know the kind of love you deserve.
