Jesus
who holds such a name?
the curse of rebellion
strongly defeated
the power of reconciliation
our gross sins and utmost shame
ended the reign of
the glorious One
the wondrous Son
there at calvary, a true story:
evil won; hope is gone
we almost had faith that
God’s love conquers it all;
His rich mercy paid it all
and heaven saw this mystery:
man’s great transgression
killed
the God-man in crucifixion
the Father witnessed
our great crime is impossible to pay
we wrongly believed
grace will unveil a new day
love will reveal a new way
we realize
the truth
the story of God’s reconciliation
is finished
oh how we should not forget it
