Beauty should not only be defined by body or even by face but by the inside.

Nowadays, women’s minds are perverted of thought that they should look beautiful by wearing clothes which are not proper in public. They thought that being confident in clothing is the ingredient of being beautiful so they wear or post in social media their dress—revealing or indecent—because it is confidence.

But, is it the real beauty? Or behind that beauty is an ugly truth?

Having freedom doesn’t mean we have the authority to show what we want to show and neglect what people think about us. Not because we are human capable of thinking we have the reason to choose something relevant and good to us even if it doesn’t seem right; because not all goods are beneficial.

“Imperishable Beauty of a Gentle and Quiet Spirit”

Are not women encouraged by Apostle Paul to show the beauty from the inside rather than the outside? “Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or of clothing you wear—but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious” (1 Peter 3:3-4)?

He reminds women that the very precious in the sight of God is a woman whose appearance is the concealed person of the heart with undecaying beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. Therefore, if in God’s sight your hidden being is cherished, so why do you need something extra by displaying body parts that should be hidden in the sight of all?

Beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit that Paul indicated here means meekness or humility and undisturbing beauty. A real beauty is not disturbing but it pleases God and everyone. It doesn’t promote revealing that causes evocation. Secured women don’t need to show to anyone that she is one of a kind girl. She is assured that even her clothes are decent she can face anyone because her splendor isn’t the beauty of the clothes she wears or the body she displays in public but who she is. This is the real meaning of confidence.

Show Us What You Got

Your body is not a talent to show off. You are created fearfully and wonderfully (Psalm 139:14). You are like a hidden treasure in the middle of the forest worth looking for. Don’t make yourself too uncovered that great men don’t need to exert effort to search for priceless things. Showcase your talent not your body. It should be presented as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God because this is our spiritual worship (Romans 12:1).

In addition to that, Paul informs us not to conform any longer to this world (Romans 12:2). Why? Because our world is corrupted with ideology, self-satisfaction thoughts, unsound sentiments, falsity beliefs, eye-pleasing opinions and titillating world views. “See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ” (Col. 2:8). So if you will go into the flow you might fall into the trap of the enemy to separate you from the truth and from the will of God which is good and acceptable and perfect (Romans 12:2).

Not because everybody suggests it means that it is right. Not because the crowd does something means it is okay. Not because most of women are following a trend you should follow it also. Pursue which the Bible thinks correct because after all it will give everlasting joy to you and to all people surrounding you.

Never low down your standard in terms of purity. Be on your guard. “Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things” (Philippians 4:8). Filter all of which the eyes can see and “do not judge by appearance, but judge with right judgement” (John 7:24).

Honorable Not Sexy is Beautiful

Oh girl, it is not lovely to hear someone calling you sexy. Don’t let anyone define and call you sexy. It seems pleasant but have you checked the real meaning of this word? In Meriam Webster dictionary it explained sexy as “sexually appealing, suggestive or stimulating” which means for erotism and in Word Web as “marked by or tending to arouse sexual desire or interest”. Sound enjoying or demeaning? Hmmm. Appreciating or disrespecting? Is it okay for you to be called like that? Choose.

The difference between sexy and honorable is not subtle. Their dissimilarity is easy to determine. True beauty is not ugly in public. It is honorable in display. It is showing the real you while hiding the private parts of your body. Your character is enough for real gentle and godly men. Your beauty from the inside is the prize and the outward is the bonus for genuine love.

You don’t need to become “sexy” in public just to be beautiful because in reality it is ugly. And it breaks my heart knowing someone’s bio in social media with a “God first” tag line but when you see that person’s displayed picture the cut of her dress is not in line and depicts “cleavage first”.

What Should Woman Clothe?

First of all I’m not an adviser of what women should clothe. Being your brother and one day a father to a girl, my suggestion to you is wear honorable. You know what you should clothe. Proper? Check. Decent? Check. Comfortable? Check, but make sure it is not revealing something. Attractive? Check, but not in the extent of attracting someone. Summing it all up, the motive behind what you wear is the first thing you need to check.

Some says it is in the matter of their own conviction what person should wear. In fact it is right. But my hope is that the Bible shouldn’t be the one to fit on our called conviction but rather our conviction is the one conforming to what the Word of God, the truth and the standard, states about.

Remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put the shining armor of right living and let us walk properly as in the daytime by living decent life for all to see. Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires (Romans 13:13-14, Galatians 3:27) because “you were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness (Ephesians 4:22-24).

Also consider this, “clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience” and “put on the new self which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator” (Colossians 3:12, 10).

There is an Honor Included in Every Action

God looks at the heart and not at the outward appearance of men (1 Sam. 16:7). If you believe that your number one fan is Him and overzealous audience are the host of heavens, then, present yourself worthy of praise and applaud of heaven. “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate” (Proverbs 31:30).

Our action is the basis of admiration and there is a badge for it remember that. Every action or deed God will bring into judgement, with every secret thing whether good or evil (Ecclesiastes 12:14). Be excited because keeping the beauty inside and outside without compromising something and honorable to all has a reward. Well done, good and faithful servant of the Lord. You have been faithful over a little. Enter into the joy of your Master (Matthew 25:21). Congratulations!
