To That Godly Man I’ve Met Online

I’m starting to like you a lot.

Your boldness in sharing your faith.

Your heart for discipleship.

Your deep relationship with God.

These things draw my attention to you.

And it makes me happy.

Seeing you pursue the things that you do wholeheartedly.

I’m always excited about knowing how your day has been.

I delight in witnessing your life through the screen.

I love reading your tweets—your thoughts, your jokes, your daily experiences both great and small.

I appreciate the talent that you share and how you use it to bless the people that are within your reach.

I enjoy looking at your pictures together with the people you share your life with.

I’m just so happy seeing them all…

but all that I can do is admire you from afar.

Don’t get me wrong…I would really love to know you more.

But I just can’t.

I’ve been here before and I don’t want to make the same mistakes again.

Not with you.

So I’d rather stay here, remain unnoticed if needed.

Skip liking your tweets if needed.

Keep my distance for a while if needed.

You see, I’m doing it all for the sake of protecting my heart.

It’s too fragile.

It’s too hurt.

And taking this seriously might seem too much, but I know that I would rather chose to be careful with the little things than regret it all again in the end.

So even if I want to be friends with you, I won’t.

Even if I want to show my support for you in the things that you do, I won’t.

Even if I want to say a lot of things to you, I won’t.

Even if I want to start a conversation with you, I won’t.

All I know is that I have to lay it all down again and again at the feet of my King for no one else could take care of this heart other than Him.

So if…only if, one day, you’ll ever get to notice me too…and if you’ll ever have the courage to win this heart…

I know that if you really are the right one, you’ll know exactly where to find it.

And I’ll be secured in that.
