Maybe some of you are studying, searching for a job, working in a prestigious company, waiting for your God’s best, preparing for your marriage, struggling in your chosen path, serving other people, or finding your purpose in this world. Maybe some of you are at the peak of the mountain while others are still trying to find water in the midst of the desert. Whatever the season you are in right now, I want to share the most important lesson I’ve learned in adulting.
It’s only one word, which is GRACE.
We often define grace as undeserved favor, God’s undeserved kindness. When I realized that everything is only by God’s grace, it leads me to trust Him more. It’s His grace that I am able to embrace myself despite my insecurities, anxieties, and fears. It’s only by His grace that He answered ”NO” in my prayers and protects my heart from heartaches and troubles. It’s only by His grace that I could forgive the people who hurt me even if they didn’t ask for forgiveness. It’s only by His grace that I keep going even if I’m breaking. It’s only by His grace that I see breakthroughs even in my breakdowns. And I realized that all I need is His grace to continue living.
Sometimes when we reached adulthood, we find ourselves holding pride that we can be victorious in our own strength, skills, education, and potential. We rely much on our dreams, ambitions, or ideal relationships. And when it doesn’t happen, we call ourselves ”failures.” He is more interested in our being than in our doing. He wants us to sit at His feet, listen to His words and let Him navigate our lives. Truly, He bestows favor and grace even we’re undeserving.
When you realized that everything is by His grace, you will start losing grip on the things that actually don’t matter in your life and surely His grace will give you fulfillment, peace, and strength to do what He desires you to do, which is to honor Him in your life. It’s not an easy path to humble ourselves at His feet and rely on His power. But even if we don’t have the strength to continue, His grace will carry us to finish His purpose for us.
Beloved, He who promised is faithful. When we are weak, He is strong. He provides doorways even in the dead ends. He is sufficient for all our needs. He can fill your empty cups and empty hearts. My grace is sufficient for you, my power is made in perfect weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (2 Corinthians 12:9) Jesus is saying this to you beloved, I pray you encounter Him also and receive His grace.
