To the girl I was, from the woman I am

If I could speak to past me, I would tell her all the things that will happen so she would not make the same mistakes.

If I could speak to past me, I would tell her to be more aggressive in asking her friends’ opinion. Those friends would’ve told her all the things she refused to see.

If I could speak to past me, I would ask her why she put so much effort when he had other priorities.

If I could speak to past me, I would ask her why she put her life on hold for someone who was busy doing other things.

If I could speak to past me, I would tell her to take care of herself, to put herself first, to love herself first, before she can truly love others.

If I could speak to past me, I would tell her to not give too much of herself, her soul, to a man who will just break her heart.

If I could speak to past me, I would tell her to be patient, to give herself to God before giving herself to any man.

But then again, I wouldn’t be who I am without being the girl I was.

So I would tell the girl I was not to worry, that God will be faithful no matter what. I would tell her to pray and seek the Lord every day – and this is the most important lesson of all.
